Group Raises N188m For Ahmed Lawan’s Yobe Governorship Bid

Former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has expressed his gratitude after a grassroots fundraising campaign raised about N188 million to support his APC governorship nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2027 Yobe State election

Representing Yobe North Senatorial District, Lawan commended the Coalition of Yobe East Progressive Youths, led by Mohammed Goni Yerima, for organizing the initiative.

He praised the effort as a model of responsible citizenship and a fresh approach to grassroots political engagement.

The fundraising took place on Sunday in Damaturu, with contributions coming via pledges, cash donations, and bank transfers into a dedicated account.

Lawan highlighted the most striking feature of the drive: the numerous small donations, ranging from N100 to N3,000, from widows, mechanic apprentices, traders, and students.

He said the outpouring of support demonstrates the people’s commitment to a shared vision of an open, accountable, and transparent government for Yobe State.
