The health sector in Abia state is no doubt in a sorry state. With doctors embarking on strike every now and then over accumulated unpaid salaries, patients dying carelessly over mal-functioning equipments, unhealthy environment amongst many others, indeed Abia state health sector needs an urgent serious attention.
The state owned hospitals have become a shadow of itself. How do we produce good doctors in the state when there's no learning ground for them?
Mascot Uzor Kalu, MUK has promised Abians that the health sector will receive a thorough and total rehabilitation. After observing the level of infrastructural decays in most public hospitals in the state, absence of emergency kits, insufficient man power and lack of incentives for the staff community, he has vowed to change the narrative when elected.
In his words,
"I will declare emergency on the health sector, ensuring that there will be alternative source of electricity to all health facilities, renovation of dilapidated buildings, purchase and equipping our health sector with essential and modern machines, timely payment of health workers salaries and addition of Incentives.
"Abians deserve the best and I am out to give them the very best", he said.
