The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State on Friday shut down academic activities for two weeks following a protest by students.
Some students said they decided to embark on the protest over what they called glaring insecurity, poor water and electricity supply in the institution.
According to the notification on the closure signed by Hajiya Hauwa S. Abubakar on behalf of the Registrar, all students were directed to vacate the polytechnic on or before 4:30pm on Friday September, 20, 2019.
The management said they acted on the security advice that the students should proceed on the break during which all necessary measures would be adopted to address the challenges raised by the student s during the protest.
