A 70yrs old woman identified as Victoria Kilani has been arrested and charged for allegedly conspiring to steal in her tenant’s apartment.

The incident happened at 30 Arowojobe Street, Oshodi, Lagos where the tenant, Ugo Oluaka resides.
Mrs. Kilani and the other suspects yet to be identified gained access into Oluaka’s apartment from the roof, tore the bags found inside the rooms and stole about N950,000 cash, vehicle documents and other valuables in the apartment.
Oluaka said he had lived in the house for more than 14 years and was paying his rent without Mrs. Kilani giving him any receipts.
There was disagreement between him and Mrs. Kilani over four months arrears which she claimed he owes her before the incident happened.
On the day the incident happened, the tenant who is a driver returned from work late in the night and opened his door, he discovered that the roof and ceiling had been pulled out while the properties inside the house were scattered everywhere. He raised alarm and neighbours told him to ask their landlady because they had seen her earlier when she brought some people to remove the roof to his apartment.

The matter was reported to Makinde Police Division and Mrs. Kilani was arrested and taken to the police station. She however admitted that she brought in a carpenter to remove the roof because the tenant was owing her four months rent but denied stealing from him..
When she was then asked to produce the carpenter for questioning to know who scattered the rooms and took the missing items, she declined saying she will not be able to locate the address of the carpenter.
According to reports, Mrs. Kilani was charged before Ogba Magistrates court for conspiracy, stealing and burglary.
She however pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, M.O. Osinbajo granted her bail with the sum of N250,000 with two sureties.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she perfects her bail conditions.
The matter was then adjourned till 16 January, 2018.
