Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has approved the immediate release of funds for the payment of three months arrears to pensioners in the state.
The Chairman of the Abia State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Okezie Ugboaja while thanking the Governor in a statement read on BCA Umuahia urged pensioners in the state to remain steadfast in their support for the Governor as he has shown his commitment to the improvement of their welfare.
There are however gaps in the salaries of local government workers as well primary and secondary school teachers. Government is doing everything possible to ensure that these areas are given the attention they truly deserve.
Government concedes that salaries of workers are their basic entitlements and makes it clear that the gaps that exist are not because government doesn't want to pay but because of challenges of cash flow.
Workers in the state has been told to be rest assured that Governor Ikpeazu is deeply committed to ensuring that their salaries are paid and thanks the workers for their patience and understanding.
