WONDERFUL! Fulani Suitor Flogged To Death During Competition

Yari Inusa the deceased, is a young Fulani man who died during a flogging competition called Sharo.
It is an age long Fulani custom which takes place between the men competing for a lady’s hand in marriage.

The game involves two or more male suitors that flog each other for a woman’s hand in marriage. Whoever wins between them will eventually marry the girl.

According to reports, the flogging was between Inusa Ahmed Saidu.
Inusa first flogged Saidu without any complain. But when Saidu took his turn to flog Inusa, he hit the Inusa on the head instead of hitting him on the back according to the rules of the game.

Inusa fainted instantly. All efforts to revive him proved abortive as he died minutes later.
The incident took place in Durmin Biri village, in the Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The Katsina State Police spokesman, DSP Gambo Isah, confirming the incident said the deceased’s father reported the incident after which Saidu was arrested.

Inusa has been buried according to Islamic rites.
