Abia Citizens Assembly Petitions HRH Eze Innocent Mba Over Deadly Threats Against His Subjects

A non governmental, non aligned  grassroots political orientation organisation ABIA CITIZENS ASSEMBLY a.k.a Abia Club International has boldly condemned the threats of HRH Eze Innocent Mba during a press conference.

The King made several threats and also laid curses on whoever will vote against the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Home Benjamin Kalu.
The royal father said he will k!ll such person.

In the video which has now gone viral, the royal father was seen threatening anybody who will not vote for Benjamin Kalu, that he will invoke the spirits of the land to harm such person. CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO

Concerned with the threats, the group has now petitioned to the state governor, Alexx Otti as well as the Nigerian Police force to look into the statement and call the royal father who has left his duty of safeguarding the norms and customs of the land, and delved into partisan politics.

PETITION

DATE: 1st August 2026

ADDRESSEES:

1. HIS EXCELLENCY,

The Executive Governor of Abia State,
Government House, Umuahia,
Abia State, Nigeria.

2. THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE,
Abia State Police Command,
State Headquarters, Umuahia,
Abia State, Nigeria.

SUBJECT:

PETITION AGAINST HRH EZE INNOCENT MBA, THE TRADITIONAL RULER OF AKANU AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY, FOR GROSS VIOLATION OF THE ABIA STATE AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY LAW, VOTER INTIMIDATION, ABUSE OF OFFICE, AND THREAT TO LIFE OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS.

1. INTRODUCTION & STANDING OF THE PETITIONER(S)

On behalf of the concerned members, stakeholders and Committee of Patrons of Abia Citizens Assembly a.k.a Abia Club International, write to bring to your urgent attention a grave matter of lawlessness, partisan intimidation, and criminal threat to life perpetrated by HRH Eze INNOCENT MBA, the recognized Eze/Traditional Ruler of AKANU AUTONOMOUSCOMMUNITY, ITEM.

2. STATEMENT OF FACTS

1. Circulation of Incriminating Video Evidence:

Recently, video footage widely circulating on social media and across various digital platforms explicitly records HRH Eze Innocent Mba addressing members of our traditional rulers council.

2. Open Political Mandate and Threats:

In the video, the traditional ruler is seen aggressively mandating members of the community to vote strictly for a specific political candidate/party in upcoming elections.

3. Invoke of Lethal Harm / Spiritual Death Threats:

More disturbingly, HRH Eze Innocent Mba explicitly threatened that any subject or community member who fails or refuses to vote for his preferred political candidate will have the "spirits of the land" invoked against them to cause their death.

3. LEGAL AND REGULATORY BREACHES:

A. Violation of the Abia State Autonomous Community Law & Chieftaincy Edicts

Under the Abia State Autonomous Community Law, traditional rulers hold a sacred, customary, and apolitical office. They are statutory custodians of culture, peace, and order who are strictly required to remain neutral and non-partisan in all political contests.

By openly campaigning for, endorsing under duress, and forcing a political candidate upon his subjects, the monarch has breached his oath of office, abandoned his statutory duty of neutrality, and desecrated the traditional institution.

B. Criminal Offenses Under the Criminal Code & Electoral Framework.

Threat to Life:
Threatening the destruction of human life—whether through physical weapons, incitement, or invocations intended to create mortal fear, constitutes a severe criminal breach under the Nigerian Criminal Code.

Voter Intimidation & Coercion:
Under Nigerian electoral jurisprudence and criminal statutes, using duress, threats, or spiritual sanctions to compel voters violates the fundamental constitutional rights of citizens to freely exercise their franchise guaranteed under Section 39 and Section 40 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

Breach of Public Peace & Incitement:
Such reckless utterances threaten to incite communal clashes, civil unrest, and lawlessness within the autonomous community and beyond.

4. PRAYERS / RELIEFS SOUGHT.

In light of the foregoing threats to human life, democratic freedoms, and public order, we hereby respectfully pray that:

I. To His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Abia State:

1. Immediate Suspension & Dethronement:
Immediately suspend and dethrone HRH Eze Innocent Mba, as the Traditional Ruler of Akanu Autonomous Community, for flagrant abuse of office, partisan politicking, and conduct unbecoming of a recognized royal father.

2. Withdrawal and Return of Staff of Office:
Issue a directive for the immediate recall and return of the Certificate of Recognition and Staff of Office, previously issued to him by the Abia State Government.

3. Appointment of an Interim Administration:
Direct the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to initiate measures to preserve peace and administrative continuity in the community pending the selection of a new custodian of our culture.

II. To the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command:

1. Criminal Investigation:
Order an immediate, thorough criminal investigation into the contents of the viral video clip and the conduct of HRH Eze Innocent Mba.

2. Arrest and Prosecution:
Cause the arrest and prosecution of the traditional ruler for threat to life, voter coercion/intimidation, criminal intimidation, and acts likely to cause a breach of public peace.

3. Protection of Citizens:
Deploy adequate security measures to safeguard the lives and properties of residents of Akanu Autonomous Community, who now live in fear of harm and political reprisal.

5. CONCLUSION:

Allowing a traditional monarch to weaponize his position, threaten the lives of his subjects, and destroy democratic choice sets a dangerous precedent for Abia State.

We trust in your prompt intervention to uphold the rule of law, protect innocent lives, and restore dignity to the traditional institution in our state.

We stand ready to present the digital video recordings and further testimonial evidence to assist your investigation.

Yours faithfully,

SIGNED FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE ABIA CITIZENS ASSEMBLY a.k.a ABIA CLUB INTERNATIONAL.

LORD NELSON OJINGWA
CC:
The Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Abia State.
The Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Abia State
The Chairman, Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers
Department of State Services (DSS), Abia State Command
