Not Supporting Tinubu In 2023 Was A Mistake – Cubana Chief Priest

Celebrity barman and entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest has openly acknowledged that refusing to support Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last general election was a wrong political move. 

Speaking at a political meeting in Imo State, the socialite explained that the gathering was the outcome of weeks of discussions among political stakeholders and supporters in the region. According to him, the event was organised to promote unity and show alignment with the federal government.

Chief Priest said many people in the region had spent years in opposition without achieving the progress they hoped for. Because of that experience, he noted that there was now a conscious effort to adopt a different political approach.

“We have decided to partner with the government at the center. We are not ready to fight. We tried fighting and it didn’t work for us.”

He stressed that maintaining a cooperative relationship with the federal administration could open the door for more development projects and other opportunities for the South-East.

During his address, he also commended Hope Uzodimma, saying the governor’s friendly relationship with the presidency has positioned the state to benefit from federal support.

The businessman further highlighted the increasing visibility of Seyi Tinubu, describing him as someone helping to connect people across political and ethnic divides. He said the engagement of figures like him has inspired many young Nigerians and influencers to become more involved in national politics.

Looking back at the last election, Chief Priest admitted he had earlier opposed Tinubu’s candidacy but now sees that stance as a political error.

“Politics is a game…we don’t want to lose again and we will never waste our votes again.”

He also expressed confidence that the growing backing for the president could evolve into one of the largest political movements in the country, adding that supporters are already mobilising ahead of upcoming elections.

Chief Priest ended his remarks by offering prayers for the success of the current administration and urging Nigerians to embrace unity and cooperation for the nation’s progress.
