Former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu has met with his successor, former Governor T.A. Orji, as both politicians move to unite ahead of the 2027 governorship race with a shared objective of dislodging incumbent Governor Alex Otti.
In a video circulating online, the two former governors who were once ache enemies, were seen together in Umuahia alongside supporters, where they pledged their loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and chanted “on your mandate,” a signature political slogan associated with pro-Tinubu mobilisation.
Political observers note that the development comes amid rising tensions between Otti and leading opposition figures in the state, including Kalu, who has repeatedly vowed to oppose the governor’s re-election bid in 2027 and deliver the state to APC.
