West Ham United has appointed Nuno EspÃrito Santo as the club’s new men’s head coach on a three-year contract.
The 51-year-old is set to take charge of his first match on Monday when the Hammers travel to face Everton in the Premier League.
Nuno arrives after a successful spell at Nottingham Forest, where he led the team to a seventh-place finish, earned European qualification, and reached the FA Cup semi-finals last season.
The former FC Porto goalkeeper is not a stranger to silverware, having won league titles and cups both as a player and as a coach, including stints with Wolves and Saudi side Al-Ittihad. His reputation as one of the game’s most respected managers follows him to London Stadium.
He conducted his first training session at Rush Green on Saturday in preparation for Monday’s game. For now, he will work alongside Academy coaches Mark Robson, Steve Potts, Gerard Prenderville, and Billy Lepine, with announcements about his permanent backroom team expected soon.
“I am very pleased to be here and very proud to be representing West Ham United,” said Nuno. “My objective is to work hard to get the very best from the team and ensure that we are as competitive as we possibly can be. The work has already started and I am looking forward to the challenge that is ahead.”
