Roma have confirmed the departure of head coach, Ivan Juric, after a challenging 12-match tenure
Juric, formerly of Torino, joined Roma in mid-September, succeeding club legend Daniele De Rossi, who was dismissed due to the team’s struggles. Juric made a promising start, winning two of his first three games.
However, his initial success faded, with only two additional wins in the next nine games across Serie A and the Europa League. The final blow came with a disappointing 3-2 home loss to Bologna on Sunday.
This latest defeat extended Roma’s winless streak to three games, following a 1-1 Europa League draw against Union SG and a previous 3-2 loss at Hellas Verona in Serie A. Roma’s domestic form has left them in a mediocre 12th position, just four points above the relegation zone and nine points behind Lazio in sixth.
Their European campaign has also faltered, as they sit 20th in the Europa League standings, with only one win from four matches, leaving them four points adrift of the top eight positions that would secure a knockout round spot.
Roma moved quickly after Sunday’s loss, announcing Juric’s dismissal and signaling their intent to appoint a new manager within days. “We would like to thank Ivan Juric for his hard work these past weeks,” the club stated. “He handled a difficult environment with the utmost professionalism, and for that we are grateful. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors. The search for a new head coach has already begun.”
Juric’s exit marks Roma’s fourth managerial change in 2024, with José Mourinho starting the year as head coach before being dismissed in January.
