Labour Party Bende House of Representatives candidate, Chief Iheanyi Frank Chinasa aka Dogo Bende has condemned the attack in Uzuakoli community few days ago which led to the destruction of various campaign materials of different political parties.
The incident which threw the community into disarray has left them in fear as gunmen in their numbers shot into the air sporadically during the attack.
In his state, Dogo said;
Our attention has been drawn to the unfortunate incident that occurred in Uzuakoli on the night of 27th January 2023, in which some yet-to-be-identified person or group of persons, invaded the peaceful community, armed with dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically into the air to scare residents, destroying my campaign billboards, and other materials and properties belonging to other candidates, like Nnamdi Iro Orji of Labour Party and Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu (APC) whose constituency offices were reportedly damaged.
This very condemnable act greatly disrupted the peaceful lives and activities of members of the Uzuakoli community, and once again brought to the fore, the urgent need for government and elected public officers and representatives, to immediately deploy workable solutions to address the lingering socio-economic challenges that may have remotely or directly given rise to such breakdown of law and order.
The Obidogo Campaign Organisation joins other well-meaning indigenes of Uzuakoli, friends, and the civil society to condemn this unwarranted breach of the law, and flagrant display of lawlessness, moreso in a time when the people are very ready and willing to participate in a democratic process that will change the course of our rich history and political fortunes for good.
Our guiding principle has always been Equity, Justice, Fair play, and Good Conscience.
No political ambitions of any politician are worth a drop of blood to any of us.
We enjoin our teeming supporters and the entire electorate to shun every form of violence and/or disregard for the law and constituted authority.
Our victory is assured through the ballot.
