INTRODUCTION:
The Making of A Robust Charlatan.
Bende Local Government in Abia State is probably the oldest Local Government Council in Nigeria. The Land is blessed with several great personalities, Intellectuals, Academicians, Professionals, Businessmen and Women, Top Public Servants of Repute, who have left and are still leaving indelible marks in the Nigerian Society.
But recently the LGA, which also has the rare record of being a Single Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, has fallen into the hands of a Con Artist, and an Untrained Lawyer, who parades phoney and irreconcilable names, Dates of Birth, Parentage, and Questionable Professional and Educational Certificates and Titles. He is one Benjamin Okezie Kalu, who in the past three and half years have been representing Bende at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly.
A. EARLY LIFE
This impostor started his life as Okezie Umunna, then without any cogent reasons transformed into Benjamin Okezie Osisiogu, before metarmophosing into his present name, Benjamin Okezie Kalu. Not much was known about his birth, except that his Mom's name is Mabel from Bende, who was known to be married to many husbands. But from a Court Affidavit of declaration of Age, dated 9th December, 2002, sworn to at A High Court in Abuja, a certain Chief Mike Kalu, who claimed to be ' The Senior Cousin' deposed that Benjamin Okezie was born on May 5th 1971. Curiously in another affidavit that was tagged Change of Name and dated 10th January, 2011, deposed at the Umuahia Division of the Abia High Court, this character changed his name severally from Okezie Umunna, to Osisiogu Benjamin Okezie and subsequently to Kalu Benjamin Okezie. And yet he further procured a Birth Certificate from the NATIONAL POPULATION COMMISSION, which puts his date of birth as May 6th, 1971, an obvious contradiction. Such is the controversy that surrounds the birth of this imp and arrogant Representative of NDI BENDE, at Federal House of Representative, Abuja.
But many evidence (especially oral testimonies from Bende Town, where he hails from) point to the fact that the real Okezie Umunna, whose First School Leaving Certificate that Ben may have adopted, died sometime in 1984, as a Class 2 Secondary School Student, and so a distant cousin of his (Ben Okezie Osisiogu) appropriated his Primary School Certificate, and with the help of a forged Transfer Certificate that was common place then, he got enrolled in Class 3, at Wilcox Memorial Comprehensive Secondary School, Aba in 1985, where he claimed to have passed out in Class 5, in 1988, with only an (easy to obtain) School Leaving Testimonial. In an INEC form filled with his own handwriting in 2018/2019, Ben claimed he was in Wilcox between 1985-88, where he was admitted in Class 3. Nothing was stated about where and when he started Secondary Class 1 and 2, thereby creating a visible LACUNA and MORAL BURDEN on him. Subsequently in September 1991, this Controversial 'Law Graduate' of the University of Calabar, procured a WAEC/SSCE Certificate with Candidate Number 21735362, purportedly obtained from an Unknown and Unnamed Centre in PortHarcourt. Maybe from Rumuola Under Bridge Exam Centre. This Oluwole like Certificate that he now parades was obtained in 1991, three years after he claimed to have left Wilcox and in his new fancy name Benjamin Osisiogu. So he moved from Okezie Umunna to Benjamin Okezie Osisiogu just like that. There was no formal Change of Name as at that time as required by Law, to back up this obvious abduction of these Certificates. In a manner akin to Bola Tinubu his drug mentor and fellow unknown background man, who started as Amoda Yekini Ogunlere Lamidi Ahmed Shogundele, Ben has serially moved from Okezie Umunna, to Osisiogu Benjamin Okezie and now Benjamin Okezie Kalu. This is the moral and ethical burden afflicting this garrulous and pugnacious guy, otherwise rechristened BELLICOSE BEN.
2. HIS UNIVERSITY EDUCATION:
In 1992, Ben was reportedly admitted with all those Questionable Certificates into the University of Calabar to read Law at 21 years. But sometime in 1995, he was allegedly caught in the Examination Hall, involving himself in Examination Malpractice and was RUSTICATED from the the School. There was no evidence of RECALL nor REVERSAL till date. He moved into Aba and started hob-nobbing around Bende Big Boys, like OUK, Majah, and Anyansi Agwu for assistance. He was also a rookie Barber at LOOKING GOOD BARBER SALOON, located at St Michael's Road, and owned by Anyansi Agwu, now Enyimba FC Chairman. He NEVER repeat NEVER went back to Calabar to complete his education, where he was known not have been meeting the academic standards. Rather he found his way to South Africa, courtesy of Orji Uzor Kalu, who out of charity, adopted him.
In Johannesburg, he did not rest, instead he got involved in sundry crimes like Drug Hawking and Gun Running. Of course, he was severally locked up there. Between 2009 and 2010, he escaped to Nigeria, and was appointed by Governor Theodore Orji as Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Bende LGA and Special Assistant to the Governor, all courtsey of his newly adopted father OUK and his then very powerful Mother, Eunice Uzor Kalu. In appreciation, he started bearing Kalu to please Mother and Son. The first thing Ben did as a Caretaker Chairman, was to use the large chunk of first allocation that accrued to Bende, to go sort out University of Calabar via a notorious Certificate Syndicate operating inside the University. The syndicate issued him with an LL B Certificate back dated to 16th October, 1998, but without authentic Certificate nor Serial Number, for ease of denial in times of trouble. That is why his claimed names Benjamin Okezie, Umunna Osisiogu Kalu, or any variation of it cannot be found in the list of the 1997/98, 1998/99 and 1999/2000 Graduate Brochures, where Names of Genuine Graduates approved by the University Senate are contained; even though he succeeded recently during the tenure of a powerful Abia Lady, who just left as Pro Chancellor, to plant his name as having obtained a Second Class Lower Degree in Law at the Law Department and Faculty respectively. Subsequently he went on a procurement spree.
The BENDE INTEGRITY NETWORK challenges Ben to provide his Convocation Brochure where his name is contained as a 1998 LLB Graduate or Political Science Graduate or a combination of the above. We also challenge him to publish his 1998 Graduating Convocation Pictures, to controvert us.
3. HIS LAW SCHOOL & NYSC
Having made a success of procuring a University Law Degree, through an Insider Criminal Syndicate, Ben used the instrumentality of this Syndicate to push through both Law School and NYSC. He parades a Certificate that indicated that he passed his Law Exams, dated Ist July 2011 with Certificate Number 051144, and another for Call to Bar, dated 6th September 2011. He also parades an NYSC Discharge Certificate dated 8th March, 2011, purporting to have served from 9th March 2010 to 8th March, 2011.
4. POSERS ARISING THEREIN FOR BEN:
(i) Why must a young man who claimed he graduated at Age 27 (in 1998) evade both NYSC and Law School for 12 years, until 2010, when he purportedly combined the 2 Compulsory Programmes, same year 2010. Again their is an obvious lacuna here.
(ii) Is it procedurally possible and right to crash one's NYSC and Law School the same year? We know the two can't be combined. You either go for Law School before NYSC or vice versa. You can never combine the two. This is a procedurally NO NO. But with Benjamin Okezie Osisiogu alias Kalu, who enjoys hawking shamelessness regularly, Anything Can Go. In anycase, does any of Tinubu's Lackeys have any iota of shame?
(iii) At his declared Date of Births, whether 5th or 6th of May 1971, he was already 39 years as at when he purportedly did his NYSC, in 2010/2011. This is wrong too. The appropriate thing for him is to apply for an Exemption Certificate in line with the NYSC Guidelines, and not to procure a Discharge Certificate.
(iv) If Ben changed his name from Umunna, to Osisiogu and later to Kalu, via an affidavit dated 10th January 2011, and had his Birth registered at the National Population Commission as Ben Kalu on 19th July, 2006, why was he still churning out Certificates that bore Osisiogu even up until 6th September, 2011?
(v) Is it possible for him to be undergoing his NYSC and Law School on Part Time, while working full time as an Appointee of the Abia State Government?
(vi) If Ben graduated with an LLB in Law purportedly from UNICAL in 1998, did he again Graduate with a BSc Political Science same year 1998, same University, same Matriculation Number? Assuming without conceding that he did, why is he abandoning/dropping Law in his current INEC form, for a B.Sc Political Science against what he entered in his 2018/2019 INEC, which was a subject of a bitter Court battle? We thought that having misled the Court into giving a Technicality Based Judgement, which he bragged he spent hundreds of millions to obtain, he should be proud to wear the Legal Practitioner Title? He knows that the so call Judgment hasn't cured the glaring discrepancies in his Curriculum Vitae, and facts he deposed on oath, and that with further evidence in our possession, his claims of being a Law Graduate, will be punctured.
For a man giving to throwing tantrums in the social media against his clear Superiors and Past Benefactors, for a man who appears co-joined with FORGERIES and FRAUDULENT CLAIMS, Ben knows he has several Mortuaries (not just Skeletons) in his closet. As a man possessed of endemic inferiority complex, a man often haunted by his chequered past, but who exudes a cover up lifestyle called ARROGANCE, Ben in the last four years of his single term in the National Assembly has had course to viciously attack his mentor and helper, OUK, his Senior colleagues in the National Assembly, Enyinnaya Abaribe, Uko Nkole, Nnenna Ukeje; Chief Frank Iheanyi Chinasa (Dogo) who in his wisdom have severally ignored him; and many other Bende Leaders who called him to question over his despicable actions, and who were in many ways responsible for this his first and only Successful Election outing, since 2002. Let's we forgot, he has previously contested and serially lost 5 times, both as a Candidate and thrice as an Aspirant.
This is the resume of the a Bastard, an Ingratitude, Serial Certificate Abductor, Other Peoples Projects Usurper, Notorious Drug Peddler and Tinubu's Moral Mentee, whose LLB, has been derogatory nicknamed LIE LIE BEN by his colleagues in the National Assembly. The question people are asking remains ' Is his problem Psychiatric or Psychological? Not a few who knew his Pedigree agree with the above assertion. Our current Rep Member should calm down and stop showing obvious signs of a Psychiatric already in his DNA.
In any case, Ben was picked from the gutters by Senator Orji Uzo Kalu, cleaned up and elevated to a tolerable prominence and what did he do? Stab Orji in the back, INSULT, DERIDE and tried to usurp his position. And thank GOD BEN failed! You wanted your mentor ORJI to remain in prison, a man you even adopted his name (Kalu) to get a surname. Nde Bende, Is this the man you want to continue to represent you? Tufia kwa! God forbid!
