Firstly let's start by knowing what vote means. Voting is the fundamental right as human to choose a preferred candidate as leader during an election and in Nigeria voting is done using a ballot paper where the voters select his/her candidate by folding the paper and drops it in a ballot box. This system has not been efficient during elections because there are cases of missing ballot boxes, voters vote multiple times, and even after the election there might be mistake in counting of the votes.
Coming over to BVAS voting System which was introduced by the INEC last year 2021 and was firstly used in Anambra and was recorded as a success in the state election and that's why I call it an upgrade to help the electoral system of Nigeria.
BVAS as an acronym for Bimodal voters accreditation system. It is an electronic venture used for checking and conducting of elections.
INEC after going through discoveries the understood elections done through the pepper count has alot of errors, and some developed, and some countries under going some development like Nigeria decided to be part of the newly selected technology to get a perfect vote and make the human have confidence that there votes must count this time around.
BVAS is a technology solution based on Artificial Intelligence and thus BVAS helps in minimizing electoral malpractices where analogue methods are been replaced.
When it comes to BVAS to be more effective in Nigeria more procedure should be added to enhance the electoral process helping it to be a free and fair one.
Because when it comes to the internet service we have a poor one and also we have to educate people on how to use it so there won't be a coincidence on the electoral day.
So the internet and the mobilization on how to use it should be done in other to have a fair and free election.
In conclusion the BVAS could be a potential game changer in closing the gap between electoral democracy as an enterprise in political numeracy and Nigerian elections as a cynical exercise in political voodoo.
