Hon. Benjamin Kalu, member representing Bende Federal constituency has postponed his yearly empowerment/memorial service in honor of his late mother due to fear of losing at the polls.
About 20 years ago, Ben Kalu lost his mother to the cold hands of death. She was however buried on 29th December; a date so precious to him as in 2002, he began a special memorial service for her.
As time went on he renamed President Buhari's rural constituency projects after himself.
The 2022 memorial service/empowerment program is one of the most anticipated one as Ndi Bende has noticed with displeasure how Hon. Ben Kalu has been using instruments, budget's and empowerment items from the govt for his personal empowerment thereby taking Glory for Federal goverment's legacy projects/achievements.
Lately, both the opposition and the electorates are widely informed and eyes opened that the program is not sponsored from Ben Kalu's personal purse but from Buhari-led government for local constituency projects. They are Bende's entitlements and they have the right to ask about it.
For the very first time, Ben has issued a press statement postponing the program to Jan 14 (armed forces day), and withholding every empowerment items due to Ndi Bende till a later date close to election date so as to buy voters over.

The Benjamin Kalu Foundation invites President Generals of our various communities, Traditional Rulers, Spiritual Leaders, Women, Youths, Old Men, Young Women, Students, Members of All Progressive Congress (APC) and all other political parties as well as constituents of Bende Federal Constituency to her annual Bende Town hall meeting now scheduled to hold on Saturday, 14th January 2023 at Bende starting at 10:00am.
Stakeholders are expected to be well seated by 9:30am before the arrival of Rep. Benjamin Kalu’s entourage.
It promises to be a great day with Bende constituents as we regret all inconveniences the change of date may caused to our numerous supporters and beneficiaries.

Comment's monitored from several social media groups and platforms reveals agrieved Bendelite are not happy. One said;
It should be noted that those Empowerment Items are Budgeted Items from Buhari and Ben kalu doesn't have any right to seize our Empowerment Items for selfish reasons. Even if he likes let him share it on Election Day, Nde Bende will still collect it and Vote DOGO and Peter Obi on 25th February.

Questions that quickly comes to mind is, why on armed forces day, why few weeks to the elections? What are the schedules that necessitated the postponement that could not be revealed; such an important anticipated event of the season?
Is Ben truly spending constituency projects monies on his personal projects?
