American professional tennis player, Serena Williams, has broken history in the latest release of Forbes’ list as World’s Richest Self-Made Women.
According to a publication, the 37-year-old is worth of $224m (£177m).
Forbes further reported that majority of Serena’s fortune has been made as a result of her “brain and brand rather than her backhand”.
A report has it that in the past five years, the 23-time Grand Slam champion invested in 34 startup businesses.
Serena while speaking on her financial investments, she said: "I want to be in the infrastructure. I want to be the brand, instead of just being the face.”
Forbes also revealed that 60 percent of the tennis player’s investments have gone to companies led by women.
