Accompanied in solidarity by some friends and associates, Otti arrived Okigwe road, though with calm mien, but was bestowed with an aura of a victorious Revolutionary as he was given an emotional welcome by hundreds of members of his campaign Organization, 'Abia Firsts', APGA supporters and hundreds of volunteer supporters who had stormed the venue as early as 9am.
Okigwe road witnessed an unusual traffic jam as excited motorists and pedestrians respectively slowed down on beholding the big and captivating Alex Otti flex banner to catch a glimpse of the Abia Beacon of Hope.
Shortly after the campaign office was committed to God in Prayers by a former House of Representatives Member and BOT Chairman of Abia First, Honorable Nnanna Ngwu, Dr. Otti cut the tape signaling the opening of the campaign office before mounting the stage amid cheers of uncontrollable excitements as many passersby stopped over to listen to the man they hold dearly in high esteem, Alex Otti.
Dr. Otti praised his supporters and indeed Aba people for their sustained love and solidarity, and for storming the venue to be part of history, and told them that the Abia South Campaign office was opened to take care of his 2019 political activities in the zone which consists of Ukwa East and West, Aba North and South, Ugwunagbo and Obingwa, as well as to reduce the stress his party members usually experience while traveling to Umuahia for every important meeting.
He reminded his audience that some people erroneously thought that 2019 would never come , and informed them that majority of those who played all kinds of dirty politics in 2015 are now living in regret, and expressed joy that he and millions of Abians have been vindicated by the poor performance of the PDP led government in Abia.
He challenged the people to ensure they obtain their PVCs which remain the greatest weapons to end misgovernance and suffering in Abia, promising to ensure that the feat recorded in Anambra is replicated in Abia come 2019.
Answering questions from the Press later on some of the recent developments in his party, APGA, Dr. Otti explained that it was a minor issue , and stated that what is happening is normal, and that it happens even in families let alone in politics.
On the alleged threat posed by some persons who recently decamped to APGA with the intent of running for governorship, Dr. Otti described it as a welcome development if only an entrant would respect the constitution of the party and guidelines for becoming a member of the party, either as a complete fresher or a returnee. Dr. Otti insisted that the door of APGA remains open for everyone and laughed off such alleged threats by new entrants, and the recent claim of one of the entrants who was also an aspirant in 2015 that he Dr. Otti used his influence to chase him out of the party, insisting that there would be a contest, and that he would be willing to offer his support if another person wins the primaries.
On whether he feels threatened or disturbed by the calibre of people who might face him in the 2019 election from other political parties, Dr. Otti reminded his interviewers that he and his party APGA faced similar opposition in 2015, and yet proved their mettle. He made it clear that he is an apostle of healthy political competition as it helps bring out the best in the people, and disclosed that his entrance into Abia politics has emboldened other people to come forward, and restated his confidence in millions of Abians who believe in his capacity to turn Abia around and make it the toast of all.
According to Ferdinand Ekeoma, an APGA what happened On Friday could be described as fulfilment of a popular expectation, as many Abians who had repeatedly asked questions as to whether their jinx breaker, Alex Otti was going to lead the second and final phase of the Abia voyage of freedom had their questions loudly answered and their doubts erased.
