Obaze Defeats Ifeanyi Ubah To Emerge As PDP candidate

            

Mr Oseloka Obaze has emerged winner of the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State.

Obaze, a former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, polled a total of 672 votes on Monday to defeat two other aspirants.

The PDP primary election was held at the Dora Akunyili Hall in Awka, Abia State Governor and Returning Officer in the exercise, Dave Umahi, said Hon. Ubase of Anambra North, scored 672 votes to emerge winner of the contest.

while the third candidate, Ifeanyi Ubah, polled 94 votes.

He beat his two rivals including newspaper publisher and oil magnate, Ifeanyi Ubah, who polled 94 votes while Alex Obi-Ogbolu, scored 190 votes

About 958 party delegates participated in the election.

Six aspirants had earlier indicated interest for the Anambra PDP governorship ticket, but three others – Stella Oduah, John Emeka and Linda Ikpeazu dropped before the process began.

Earlier before the primaries, some of the aspirants alleged that the list of delegates to participate in the election had been hijacked.

They, however, called on the PDP Delegate Appeal Panel led by Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State to look into the issue.

Obaze will face All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Willie Obiano and Dr. Tony Nwoye of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Anambra November gubernatorial election.
