Following the demolition of the Eke-ukwu along the popular Douglas road in owerri imo state, a group of elders under the umbrella of Concerned Imo State Leaders (CISL), on Tuesday asked Governor Rochas Okorocha to resign because of what they called “clearly established leadership incompetence and serial blunder on the most elementary duties of governance”.
In a press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday, the CISL advised the House of Assembly to invoke the impeachment clause to unseat the governor, if he fails to resign over his disregard for the people and the recent demolition of the Ekeukwu Market in Owerri, the state capital.
The concerned people of Imo, cuts across the three senatorial zones in the state and has accused Gov. Rochas Okorocha of destroying lives and property in the state.

The group’s spokesman Sam Obaji accused the Okorocha administration of embarking on an unlawful, reckless and unprofitable demolition of the market.
Chief Sam Obaji, flanked by former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Agency (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi and Chairman of Dozie Owerri group, Chief Tony Anyadike among others, claimed that Eke-Ukwu was anancestral market which has been there for over 200 years.
