A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Garba Durbunde, who represents Sumaila/Takai federal constituency has been reported missing.
Durbunde was reportedly abducted at Jere, along Abuja Road, Kaduna, while returning to the federal capital territory (FCT) after a trip to Kano.
Abdulrazak Namdas, the spokesman of the House of
Representatives, said he was not aware of the incident.
“I am not aware of this but I was told some papers have
carried it, he said.
One of the legislator’s aide confirmed the incident, saying the abductors had not contacted family members or friends of Durbunde.
“I can confirm to you that Honourable Durbunde is nowhere to be found at the moment,We are yet to establish his whereabouts or get a clue from his abductors but we have informed all the relevant security agencies about the incident.” he said
But a lawmaker, who asked not to be named, confirmed the incident.
He said the family of the kidnapped lawmaker were
already in contact with the kidnappers.
The source also said the State Security Service is already investigating the kidnap.
When contacted, the lawmaker’s legislative aide, Tunde Adela, also confirmed the incident.
Durbunde was the commissioner of rural development in the administration of Rabiu Kwankwaso, the immediate past
governor of Kano and also a serving member of House of Rep member at the federal level.
